Brent Carpenter

Born and raised in America’s Dairyland, Brent Carpenter spent his youth as somewhat of a miscreant, sneaking into weekly film screenings at the local university. Influenced by films and the power of storytelling, his passion to direct began at an early age.
Brent unearthed his comedic instincts as an improvisational comic in college. Although he no longer works the stage in comedy clubs, Brent continues to sharpen his keen sense for comedic storytelling as a director. Upon earning a film degree from the University of Wisconsin, Brent worked his way through the creative ranks as a copywriter and AVID editor before getting the chance to direct. It was an opportunity that led to work for clients such as Coca-Cola, Cadillac, Miller Brewing Company, and Reebok. “Growing up in the Midwest really provided my roots, but it also imbued me with a strong intellectual curiosity to discover more of the world.” That curiosity prompted a move to the Pacific Northwest and Portland which he now calls home. Since then, he’s continued to direct for Nike, Intel, Hewlett-Packard and Salomon Sports. “One of the beauties of the thirty-second commercial is that it offers a great format for smart, efficient comedy. I take each spot as a personal challenge to create something original and entertaining.” |
